That said DOPA and DOMA felt alright on Hard.Aktuell wird wieder The Last of Us gezockt. The community-made content is also way more difficult than the original game, these days I usually play modern-made stuff on Normal, because Hard is sometimes too much. The original game and expansion packs provide a bit too much rocket ammo and health, but understandably so because people in 96-97 didn't know "how to play", roughly speaking.ĭOPA was made in 2016 and while it's somewhat goes for the classic style in look and layouts, I think it expects a bit more knowledge and skill from the player. Entity information monstershambler is the entity for placing Shamblers in a level. Running out or low on rockets then forces them to use shells/nails on other enemies, and enemies in Quake are very spongy, which takes too long. 2.1 Usage 2.2 Attributes 2.2.1 Keys 2.2.2 Spawnflags 2.3 Definitions 2.3.1 FGD Definition 2.3.2 DEF Definition 3 Trivia 4 Notes Tactics The Shambler only takes half the damage of explosive weapons ( Grenade Launcher, Rocket Launcher ). I asked only because usually people don't know that Shambler takes only 50% damage from explosives, and since these weapons are so powerful in Quake in general the players start basically wasting the explosive ammo on Shamblers, when it could've been better used on other monsters instead. Luckily, they seemed to unfuck themselves for the Dimension of the Machine which was gorgeous aesthetically and quite fun to play. DOPA conistently made me question why the fuck I even bothered with it. I mean all of them had sketchy moments of tedium or frustration, but by and large, completing all of them on nightmare was a good kind of fun and challenge. The OG Quake episodes sure as fuck weren't this tedious and dumb, both 1997 addons completely blow DOPA out of water as well. What a climactic final fight, am I right? If retro-throwback was their goal then I don't fucking know what they were throwing back to. Seeing as how I had so little ammo at that point I had the distinct pleasure of hiding under the bridge while peeking out left and right trying to force infights above me for like 10 minutes and finally got all deathknights killed by a vore, vore killed by a shambler and shambler peek-hitscanned with my remaining shells of the starting shotgun. The obnoxious powerful enemies spam, the critical lack of ammo of all things, the dark ass-end of nowhere maps that often make you fight for every inch, the last level that goes full retard at the end with 2 shamblers, a vore and god knows how many deathknights in a wide open room. DOPA has a couple of actually enjoyable levels (mainly military bases) then slides down the shit drain and never stops. Saying it after beating the entirety of Quake remastered on Nightmare back to back, every single episode and secret level included. ![]() ![]() DOPA is complete dogshit through and through. So yeah as you can tell i really didnt like DOPA, however from what ive played Dimension Of The Machine looks great.Īctually 100% agree. The level design itself is kinda boring and repetitive, mainly labyrinths and narrow corridors, no large setpieces or interesting mechanics other than basic switches, and by the end of the game i was sick of those big knightsĪlso the final level is a complete ripoff of the shub fight, My biggest, and most gamebreaking gripe is that the expansion has barely any ammo and health, leaving you always on about 30 and with a handful of shotgun shells, it got so bad that by the final segment i was on a sliver of health and about 12 shells, so how tf do the devs expect me to fight 2 shamblers and a vore ?!! however DOPA has been a massive letdown for several reasons, at least for me. Since the remaster ive been working through the game and its expansions on hard difficulty, and for the most part its been great fun.
